Have a fun and safe Fall Break!

Announcements/Important Dates

October 17-21: Fall Break / No School

WHAT WE'RE LEARNING IN CLASS

Math: We are continuing with our long division unit. By the end of the unit, students will be able to divide 4 digits by 2 digits. Quotients (answers to division problems) may include remainders. Computation questions they will answer will look similar to this:

  • 37,520 ÷ 76
  • 926 ÷ 32

Literacy (Reading & Comprehension): We are continuing to work on Main Idea. We are finding the main idea by by determining the topic of a short passage of text, then gathering information using the 5 W's (Who, What, When, Where, and Why) to find essential information. They will then determine what's essential and use that to create a 10 words or less sentence stating the main idea.

Writing: We finished our Zoo paper this week! I am so impressed with the improvement they are all making on their opinion essays. Our next paper will be covering Patriots vs. Loyalists.

Social Studies: Next week we will be taking a close look at the different regions in the colonies. We will read a fun article about Roanoke (click HERE if you would like to learn more about it). We will also be learning about the climate, geography, and economy of the original 13 colonies.

CLASS NEEDS

Many of you have asked if you can donate anything to our class. While it's not required, it means the world to me! If you would like to make a donation of your choice to my current Donor's Choose project, please click HERE. I am wanting to get a variety of classroom supplies that are always needed in the classroom.

We earned our class party! The class collaborated in groups to come up with a plan for the party, and then we voted on our favorite ones. They chose a pajama/popcorn party. We had a great time!
