March 23rd - 27th

Whew! We made it through the first week of Distance Learning!

Thank you, thank you for ALL of your support and patience as we press forward in this unprecedented time. I know you are doing so much to help and support your child(ren) at home, and I cannot thank you enough. This first week helped us work out the kinks, and below I've outlined how this week will look.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • On Google Classroom, all assignments for the week will be under the current week (meaning this week's assignments are under the title "Week of 23rd - 27th"). There will be a weekly checklist to help you and your students to keep track of assignments for each day.
        • Please view that checklist by clicking HERE. You may want to print it out and place it somewhere you and your child can see!
  • Our PE teacher, Ms. Jenks, created a class website. It can be found under Helpful Links. Please check it weekly, as it has her assignments on it.
  • We know this is a stressful time for many of you and your kids. We added some "Mindful Minutes" on Google Classroom. These are 1 minute "exercises" to help experience mindfulness. I, myself, love to use them and they help me refocus!
  • I loved getting to meet with students via Google Meet this week! I know a lot of kids have questions, so I will hold two math help sessions a week, and Mrs. Hamilton will hold an additional two study sessions for any questions (not just math). Please help students get on Google Meet on time and make sure they have paper and pencil.

WHAT WE'RE LEARNING THIS WEEK

Please click HERE for this week's schedule!

Literacy: Students are learning how to make inferences based on text evidence.

Math: Students are learning how to multiply and divide fractions. This week students are focusing on dividing fractions using models and the "keep, change, flip" strategy. We know that math can be challenging to teach at home! Below are two videos that teach YOU each method so you can support your kids :)

Science: We are learning about heredity - how traits are passed down to offspring.

Thanks again for all you are doing to help! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Love, Mrs. Cooper
