I'm getting a bit of a late start on this week's blog. But it's a start. Here you see the Asters, the major flower of the week. They seem to be coming in only two colors: pink and purplish. They both are greatly admired by Bumblebees and Honeybees.
Definitely, if I were a Bee or a Wasp or a Butterfly, I would be attracted to this lovely Pink Aster. Or these. Or This Purple one.
The Goldenrod came a couple of weeks ago and is starting to slow down a bit. It was great fun, while it lasted, to look for creatures that mimicked the gold blanket. The middle picture is of a pair of Goldenrod Soldier Beetles mating, while picture 3 shows Cerceris insolita, a lovely small wasp.
Here is a Bee? Wasp? No, it's a Fly - a member of Banded Bee Flies, Tribe Villini, to be exact.

Usually about now there will be a new creature or two showing up out front, but today seems to be running a bit low on new things appearing. Let's hope next week will be a bonanza! Take care of yourself and your environment. Love, Martha
