Just for some tranquility, here was our beloved Pond on November 27 - what a picture of peace. The wind is ruffling the water so that it looks as though the scene itself is moving.
Yes, your eyes were not deceiving you. This was the pond this morning, November 29. A light rime of ice on the water, and SNOW on the ground. I will have to get into the pond box and find the little floating heater.
Found it, plugged it in, and flung it into the Pond, and Voila! If this heater works as it has for a couple of years now, it will maintain a surface hole about 2 feet in radius all winter.
Sorry to say, this is about the most action I have seen out there for the past few days. It has been snowing, then not snowing, then snowing. Last night I had to scrape a goodly bit of snow off the top and windows of the car in order to drive out. So I'm going to end this blog for the week and hope that there will be better pickings for pictures for the coming week. At least we know that nothing cataclysmic has happened yet to initiate the silly season. I hope that everyone who celebrates Thanksgiving (or Turkey Day as some of us say) had a good one among family and friends. For now, I will end with a plea to all to keep our lovely planet in their thoughts and actions, and hope for a tranquil new month and a peaceful start to Winter when it comes in about three weeks! Love to all, Martha.
