It isn't QUITE the end of the year yet, but it's still worth noting - what? That it's still dark when I peek from behind the curtains at dawn. That the Pond is quite frozen there. And still is in the mid-afternoon, when I finally decided to start typing tomorrow's Blog. But it's all right. We had a wonderful Thursday Thanksgiving and nothing crazy happened to change my opinion of the goodness of the day until late afternoon on the way home when I decided the ground was solid enough and stepped onto an icy spot and landed on another icy spot. The word "Icy" would have been quite sufficient - no need to comment further on it until I stepped gently onto another place which had been gently massaged into a lovely place to place a foot - but which threw me for a loop and I ended up in Emergency with three broken ribs. Now I'm going through lidocaine patches and pain pills in order to breathe.
So here I sit/lie trying to move and on the other hand trying not to move too much. And here this Blog gets very very short. I must say to all my friends that one never knows what is in store just beyond the corner. So to all of you, have a good week and don't walk anywhere you can avoid stepping. I'm probably going to stick to my bed although my favorite jigsaw puzzle is in the dining room downstairs and crying out to me. I've now been awake for a day's worth of hours. Please all, be careful, especially out there in those elements. My cell phone works and I will answer it if YOU call me. Love, Martha
