Another slow cool week. Looking ahead, it seems the weather will try its best to warm up some by next week. We'll see! After several days' worth of power failures, outguessing the weather seems as pointless as outguessing the power industries! Picture 1 shows a crocus at the end of its bloom sequence. Pictures 2 and 3 seem to show some kind of Hyacinth (thanks to Kathleen Seidl for helping me see the plant inside the structure!).
Grape Hyacinths are all over the place out front. One difference in Grape Hyacinths and "ordinary" Hyacinths is the larger size of the Hyacinths.
Here are some more Hyacinths.
Here is something called a Celandine Poppy (Stylophorum diphyllum) - it makes a large plant with bright yellow flowers. Here it is about now and (in the next photo) how it will look in a few weeks.
Here is my pinkish, reddish, purplish Hellebore getting up onto its feet after a flat-on-its-back winter!
It was an interesting week. We had several power outages subsequent to several short but severe Spring storms, which meant that we got to be quite friendly with the people who service our generators. Thanks guys! Still today is quiet, and Spring continues to come on in. Let's hope that we can continue to improve how we get our power. Still very few houses around here have even rooftop grids. This past week reminded us how very much we need to improve our access to electricity. I don't know about YOU, but the week made ME think a lot about where our power comes from. Maybe that was a good thing? Love to you all, and I hope we ALL will get our power act together.
Happy Spring!
