Last blog of December, 2025! We have finally arrived in Winter for real! Here you see the pond with its blanket of leaves a few weeks ago, and closer to today! In picture 2, you can see that many many small animals have been visiting to get to the liquid water surrounding the pond heater.
That waxed Amaryllis that Joan gave us for Chanukah has really budded up since then.
Let's go inside, where it is warm enough for human life. This is the little waxed amaryllis that cousin Joan left when they visited last. You can see that its one leaf so far is growing slowly.
It has been a slow week for news. I didn't fall down. This was wonderful news, to me at least. I spent some time making paper-cut paintings of mountain ranges, my favorite pictorial topics.
I spent a bit of time making baby toys. All of these can be held or played with by a very young human. Picture 1 shows a fabric that can be stitched into a froggy toy (as in picture 2). If anyone is interested in how to make these simple toys, I might be persuaded to offer such a class. All one needs is fabric, a needle, thread, and scissors. (I use left-over fabric to stuff the toys.)
I'm surely looking forward to AALL classes starting up again. And the various music ensembles and other groups at the College. How about you? There are a lot of groups who would love to have you join!
By the way, AALL (Albion Area Lifelong Learners) is a great organization which offers classes for people over 55. Lots of movies too. Look them up if you want to have a lot of fun and learn a lot too from people like us. The next round of classes starts in February.
Well, this is about all that has come my way. Please have a safe rest of the Winter, whether you like it or not! Love, Martha
PS. Here is what my favorite summer chair by the pond looks like nowadays!
