Animal Care

Push The Limits

Developing new skills and only asking for help only when you have exhausted all other options. Taking on more challenging and complex tasks.

Be Unusually Brave

Not to be afraid of failure and learning through development of ideas and outcomes. Using equipment with confidence and not giving up.  Having an ‘I can attitude’.

Be Big-Hearted

Discover What's Possible

Welcome to the Animal Care pages at Winton.

At Winton we offer students the opportunity to study for the Pearson BTEC Level 1/Level 2 Tech Award in Animal Care.  Tis course is for learners who want to acquire sector-specific applied knowledge and practical skills through vocational contexts by studying animal health and welfare.  The qualification enables learners to develop their practical skills, such as using appropriate equipment and techniques to handle and restrain different animals, and to prepare and clean out animal accommodation ready for use using realistic vocational contexts. It will also develop personal skills, such as self-management and communication, through a practical and skills-based approach to learning and assessment.

In addition we offer students the opportunity to get involved in our dog grooming service 'The Wagging Wash', animal care clubs and taking animals to agricultural shows.
