Our curriculum at Unity Academy has been created in line with the Middlesbrough Agreed Syllabus (SACRE)  the curriculum for RE aims that all pupils:



‘RE explores big questions about life, in order to find out what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live, so that pupils can make sense of religion and worldviews, reflecting on their own ideas and ways of living’.

Year 7 Is religion relevant today? 

Year 8 Does religion help people to be good? 

Year 9 Does religion give us answers to today's modern questions?

AQA  Religious Studies A (Christianity and Islam)


At GCSE level the course focuses on the study of beliefs and practices from a Christian and Islamic perspective; this then follows the application of Christian and Islamic philosophical and ethical views to issues in the world today.The units studied are as below.

Unit 3;


At the end of the course students complete two written exams, each lasting 1 hour 45 minutes. The qualification received is GCSE Religious Studies.
