Art & Technology
In the Art & Technology Department, we aim to develop an exciting, technical and contemporary curriculum which inspires and generates creative thinkers and future innovators.
The Department team consists of nine members of staff:

In Yrs 7 & 8 the specialist areas that we teach are:
Art & Design, Design & Technology and Cooking & Nutrition
Students will take part in a series of specialist subject rotations of approximately 9/10 weeks where they will experience a wide range of different Art, Design & Technology projects:
Through these creative and practical projects, students are taught the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to engage in an iterative process of creating, designing and making. All students will develop the creative, technical and practical expertise needed in order to design and make high-quality artwork, prototypes and food products for a wide range of users to critique, evaluate and test their ideas and products and the work of others.
As part of their work with food, students are taught how to cook and apply the principles of nutrition and healthy eating. Learning how to cook is a crucial life skill that enables students to feed themselves and others affordably and well, now and in later life.
In Yr 9, students will take part in a further rotation of specialist subjects. This includes a wider choice of options , in order to prepare students for their potential future career pathways. These include:
Art & Design, Textile Design, Photography, Construction, Cooking & Nutrition, Design & Technology
Art, Design and technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. Students will acquire a broad range of subject knowledge and draw on disciplines such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art. Students learn how to take risks, becoming resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable citizens. Through the evaluation of past and present design and technology, students develop a critical understanding of its impact on daily life and the wider world. High-quality design and technology education makes an essential contribution to the creativity, culture, wealth and well-being of the nation.
In Yrs 10 & 11 students can choose from the following pathways:
Fine Art, Textile Design, Photography, Construction and the Built Environment , Hospitality and Catering, Three Dimensional Design and Hair & Beauty Therapy.
The Department offers a wide variety of courses aimed at showing students how best to understand the world of Art and Technology.
