Mastering the Application Process
You now have a resume that that is ready for viewing but, even with a great resume you are struggling to get a job. That's because applying for a job requires a bit more than your fantastic resume - it requires a complete application package.
Your application package is something that should be reviewed and updated regularly so it is ready to go whenever needed.
What does an application package include?
Resume
The document that summarizes your educational, volunteer, and work history, as well as your training, certificates, and special skills.
Cover Letter
Provides information to the employer about who you are both as a professional and as a person. This includes your areas of interests, professional goals, knowledge, skills you've gained over the years, your achievements, passions, and aspirations.
Application Form
A document employers use to gather information about you before making a hiring decision. Typically, you receive the same job application form as other candidates. Job application forms include a wide range of questions about your personality, experience, and job-related skills.
Interview Questions & Answers
Practice answering general interview questions so you are as prepared as possible. Being prepared helps to reduce anxiety and nervousness before your interview.
Thank-you Letter
Sending a thank you note or email after your interview will set you apart from other applicants. It shows your continued interest and good manners.
