Step 1: Look at the Subject Choice Forms to see which courses are available. For senior phase, there is a Course Catalogue to help research courses and entry requirements.  For S1-S3, please refer to the BGE Curriculum Maps. 

Step 2: Seek advice from your subject teachers about whether they recommend that you study a course. Also, seek advice from your PTG/Careers Adviser (SDS) about how your subjects can help you get to college/university or get a job. 

There is a curriculum event at St Machar Academy to support the choice process on Thursday 29 January 2026 - 4.00-6.00 pm

Step 3: Discuss at home and and complete the choice sheet. Hand in to your Guidance teacher.

Step 4: Your Guidance teacher/Year Head will complete a Google Form with you based on your selected choices

Note: All pupils will be required to complete an online application if you are applying for an ABZ Campus course, NESCol Course or a Foundation Apprenticeship.
