The NPA Exercise and Fitness Leadership is geared to support you if you wish to pursue Exercise and Fitness as a possible career path. The course will offer you a range of options to lead others across a range of fitness activities where you will develop your leadership and knowledge of fitness.
Within the course you will complete 3 of the following 5 units:
Exercise and Fitness: Cardiovascular Training
Exercise and Fitness: Fixed Weight Training
Exercise and Fitness: Free Weight Training
Exercise and Fitness: Circuit Training
Exercise and Fitness: Exercise to Dance
Within the units you look at the muscles required to perform along with targeted exercises for each muscle group. You will plan and lead on activities in relation to the chosen units named above. The course will be a mixture of practical and theory.
For each of the 3 units a logbook will be completed along with a closed book test. This will be completed throughout the year.
You are also required to lead part of a session for each of the 3 chosen units. For example lead a 10 minute exercise to dance session or lead on a circuit training session. You will be assessed on a pass/ fail basis on your ability to lead in these 3 units.
