Hospitality at SCQF level 5 introduces learners to the hospitality industry and explores the scope of the industry, the career paths and job roles within it, and the employability skills that underpin them.
It involves a period of work experience.

The course is comprises of 3 units:
Working in The Hospitality Industry - This unit is designed to introduce learners to the scope and breadth of the hospitality industry, including the wide variety of job roles and career pathways available. The unit will give learners the opportunity to research and explore a hospitality business in detail in order gain an appreciation of the diversity within the industry.
Barista Skills - This unit is designed to enable learners to develop basic knowledge, understanding and technical skills required for the role of a barista. The unit covers how to operate specialist equipment to prepare and serve coffee and a variety of other drinks.
Food Hygiene for the Hospitality Industry - The purpose of this unit is to enable learners to develop the knowledge and skills needed to prepare, cook, hold and/or serve food safely, in compliance with food safety legislation. The unit provides learners with a broad understanding of how to identify food safety hazards and hazard prevention measures in a hospitality environment, including the principles of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) approach.
Learners will also undertake a work placement, which will help to develop both vocational and employability skills.
Learners will also have the opportunity to gain The REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate at SCQF level 5.
The course assessment is based on ongoing assessments throughout the year. There is no exam which means the course is graded pass or fail at SCQF level 5.
Suitable for those learners who wish to gain an understanding of the range of career opportunities provided by the hospitality industry and the skills required.
Successfully completing the NPA Hospitality will allow you to progress to NPA Events at SCQF level 6 and Modern Apprenticeship in Hospitality.
Employment in the Hospitality industry.
