Advanced Higher Art and Design allows you to specialise in on of two areas - Design or Expressive.
The expressive course provides you with the opportunity to develop your creativity, visual awareness and understanding of aesthetic, while exploring how to communicate your personal thoughts, ideas and opinions through creating expressive artwork.
The course consists of two compulsory units and the course assessment unit.
Expressive Studies
In this unit you will:
through self direction, investigate the working practices and design approaches of others
analyse artists’ work and practice, analysing and evaluating the impact of external factors on their creative work
communicate informed and supported personal views, opinions and judgements on the designers’ work.
Expressive Enquiry
In this unit you will:
develop and produce a range of related development lines of creative enquiry and expressive art work. Your expressive art work will be inspired and influenced by your investigative research into expressive art practice
experiment with and creatively explore how materials, equipment, techniques, composition and/or technology can be used
use these in sophisticated and expressive ways to communicate and realise your ideas in 2D and/or 3D formats.
The course assessment consists candidates producing a Portfolio of work (100 marks).
