The course has 2 elements
National Progression Award in Children and Young People (Classroom based learning)
2 SVQ (SCQF Level 6) units (Work placement based learning and theory)
For the NPA you will study the units below:
Safeguarding of Children and Young People
Play for Children and Young People
Communication with Children and Young People
Development of Children and Young People
Promote the Wellbeing and Safety of Children and Young People
For the SVQ you will study:
Support Effective Communication
Support the Health and Safety of Yourself and Individuals
Develop your own Knowledge and Practice
Support the Safeguarding of Children and Young People
You will be assessed using a variety of methods for the classroom element of the course (NPA). All assessments are internal and there is no final exam.
You will also be assessed on placement to ensure you have met the requirements of practical element of the course
S4 Entry
This course is for S5/S6 Pupils Only.
S5 or S6 Entry
Pupils should have achieved a minimum of 3 National 5 passes, preferably including English (or another written based subject)
This course will provide you with a range of options including:
Progression to a related college or university course*
