In this course you will study Scottish, British, European and world contexts in a variety of time periods, which will include elements of political, social, economic and cultural history. You will develop important skills on this course such as: researching and investigating themes and events; synthesising information from a wide range of sources to produce detailed and reasoned lines of argument; and drawing well-reasoned conclusions supported by evidence. The course consists of three areas of study.
Scottish History
British History
European and World History
The course assessment has two components totalling 100 marks:
Component 1: question paper – worth 80 marks
Component 2: assignment – worth 20 marks.
For the assignment component, you will be asked to choose and research a topic drawn from Scottish, British or European and world contexts and record and organise your findings. The assignment component will be set and externally marked by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA).

Learners should have passed National 5 History (A or B)
S6 Entry:
As above, or if learners wish to 'crash' this subject they should be able to demonstrate ability to cope with Higher level work in similar subjects.
A/B Pass:
Advanced Higher History (City Campus)
C or Below
Learners may be suited to studying Higher courses in another Social Subject or Personal Development at SCQF Level 6 (equivalent to Higher)
