Enrollment

Eligibility

Eligibility for credential programs is determined by the credentials a candidate already holds and by the requirements of the candidate's employing school district. Step-by-step accountability measures have been developed by Ventura County Educator Support and Effectiveness in collaboration with Induction Consortium districts’ Human Resources personnel to allow for clear identification of eligible participating teachers. Program-specific eligibility requirements for specific ESE credential programs are discussed in the Detailed Credential Program Descriptions section of this handbook.

Prerequisites

Prerequisites for specific ESE credential programs are discussed in the Detailed Credential Program Descriptions section of this handbook site.

Application Process

Credential program applications are available on the ESE website (www.vcoe.org/ese) in early August of each school year. Each candidate must complete the application, including obtaining required signatures, pay any required fees, and submit the application by the published deadline in order to be admitted to the program.

Admission

Admission to a ESE credential program is granted once the Program Director and VCOE Academic Advisors have evaluated and approved a candidate’s program application. An official letter of admission is emailed to accepted credential program candidates by Academic Advisors prior to the first class meeting. Included in the admission letter are the program start and completion dates and descriptions of any additional program/credential requirements.

Advisement

Candidates with questions about their eligibility for credential programs are encouraged to contact an Academic Advisor at academicadvise@vcoe.org. For questions about the various credential programs offered by ESE, potential candidates may contact the Program Director.
