Teacher Induction

Candidates to the Teacher Induction must meet the following minimum eligibility requirements:

  • Hold a California Preliminary Multiple or Single Subject credential
  • Be employed in a teaching assignment or have access to students that allow the candidate to demonstrate skills required by program standards (subject to program approval); Assignments less than one semester (e.g., day-to-day substitute teaching) are not eligible teaching assignments.

Benefits of the Teacher Induction Program include:

  • Recommendation for the Clear Credential upon completion of all program elements and CTC requirements
    • An Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) documenting focused cycles of inquiry and professional growth
    • Support and mentoring from a trained peer mentor
    • Professional learning opportunities;
  • Early completion option for qualified candidates
  • Opportunities for candidates to expand their educational resumes
    • University coursework credit for salary advancement (dependent upon the district’s specific rules)
    • Credit toward master's degree programs with Grand Canyon University

Combining professional development coursework with Program faculty, and completion of formative assessment documents during fieldwork with an experienced mentor, each candidate is guided to successful demonstration of required Program competencies. The two-year, job-embedded program is offered as a partnership between VCOE and consortium district leadership.
