The Master of Arts in Teaching with an Emphasis in Professional Learning Communities is designed for credentialed teachers who want to increase their leadership expertise at their schools, such as individuals who wish to become coaches, grade-level team leaders, department chairs, as well as those who desire to become more effective in their own classroom.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Grand Canyon University is amongst the lowest in tuition for online, private universities. As a candidate who is currently enrolled (or has completed since 2011) a Ventura County Office of Education clear credential program, you are eligible for a 10% tuition discount for online programs at GCU and a 20% discount for the online cohort—MAT in Professional Learning Communities. In addition, the MAT in Professional Learning Communities program is designed to take into account the work you complete in the Ventura COE clear credential program. PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY

This master’s degree program is available to teachers who are currently enrolled in the Ventura County Office of Education (VCOE) Induction Consortium programs (General Education Induction and Education Specialist Clear) and those who have completed their clear programs as of, June 2011 to present.

MASTER OF EDUCATION IN TEACHER LEADERSHIP

California Lutheran University’s Graduate School of Education offers the Master of Education in Teacher Leadership to prepare teaching professionals who wish to expand their knowledge, be more effective in the classroom, and take on critical teacher leadership roles that contribute to student and school success. In partnership with the Ventura County Office of Education, candidates may use their Induction Program coursework to waive 5 units of graduate credit toward a concurrent M.Ed. through our continuing education program.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • This 36-unit program is reduced to 31 units after Induction Program credit, and as low as 25 units after transfer credit. It is offered at Cal Lutheran’s main campus in Thousand Oaks, in a combination of traditional, hybrid, and online formats.
  • Your tuition for this program will be discounted by $100 per unit (excluding Corwin Read 2 Earn, which costs just $199 per unit).
  • Advance your career with this CTC-accredited program - you’ll also receive either a Reading and Literacy Added Authorization or a Supplementary Authorization in Computer Concepts and Applications, depending on your specialization.
  • Candidates may transfer up to 6 additional units of graduate credit earned from an accredited university, upon analysis and syllabus review. Transfer credit may not be accepted in place of core requirements.
  • Program entry begins in the spring, with a customized, convenient 2.5 year completion track.
