Designated Subjects Credential (DSC)

A Designated Subjects Credential authorizes teaching or service in in classes organized primarily for adults (Adult Education) or in technical, trade, or vocational classes (e.g., Regional Occupation Programs [ROP], Career Technical Education classes). The Ventura County Designated Subjects Credential program is a CTC (California Commission on Teacher Credentialing)-approved Local Education Agency (LEA) for Adult and Career Technical Education.

Services provided include:

  • Quality assurance – All courses are taught by experienced credentialed instructors with professional experience in the field of vocational and adult education.
  • Support and mentoring provided by a trained peer mentor
  • Evaluation, preparation, and authorized LEA recommendation of credential application packets for adult education and career technical education teaching credentials for processing through the CTC
  • Individual counseling, advisement, and transcript and work experience evaluation services provided by ESS credential analysts (academic advisors)

The DSC Adult Education Program and Initial and Advanced Preparation Career Technical Education Program consist of multiple instructional formats that provide classroom instruction, online study, and self-paced study.
