February marked LGBTQ+ History Month!
February marked LGBTQ+ History Month!
Recognising LGBTQ+ history and the history of gay rights and related civil rights movements. Celebrating equality and diversity and showing how we are always stronger, better and prouder together.
The theme of this year’s LGBTQ+ History Month is ‘Behind the Lens’, celebrating LGBTQ+ peoples’ contribution from behind the lens. Directors, costume designers, make-up artists, musicians, choreographers and beyond.
Our Learning Resources Centre Team (in the Libraries) have had lots of engaging displays, thought-provoking information and literature from LGBTQ+ authors available for you to browse. They also ran a LGBTQ+ History Month quiz for students.
We have included the Timeline of British LGBTQIA+ History that they created here too - have a read!
The Students' Union LGBT+ Officer, Leo, also ran a gender-affirming, inclusive make-up stall at City campus, and after it's success, are hoping to run more at different campuses going forward!
To hear more from Leo, check out the 'Students' Union Update' page in this newsletter.
Want to get involved in anything like this going forward? Why not join our LGBT+ Society - information is below!
