-ˋˏ Georgia SU President ˎˊ˗
-ˋˏ Bella SU Deputy President ˎˊ˗
Welcome back everyone to start of the new academic year, and also a very warm welcome to all the students who are in their first year of college!
My name is Georgia and I'm your Student Union President for the second year in a row, and I'm really excited to welcome everyone for what I hope will be an amazing 25/26. We hope you all settle in really well and are excited about all of the opportunities that you can get involved in now you've started college. I thought this would be a great opportunity to let you know what I'm aiming to achieve this year.
Continue bringing awareness towards mental health to bring recognition to difficulties
students face on a daily basis
Ensure that the Clothes Shop ran across campus becomes a termly event as a part of
sustainability
Make students aware of the importance of
diversity and inclusivity
Aim to make students more aware of club
choices and increase attendance
I'm excited to welcome Bella, our new Deputy President! I'm really looking forward to working with her, and I know that she's going to be a great addition to the team.
Hi, I’m Bella, the Student Union Deputy President for 2025/2026. I’m really excited to be joining Georgia as part of the SU team!
I have just finished studying Level 3 Acting at The Sheffield College and thoroughly enjoyed being a student here. Now, I’m looking forward to being a member of staff and having the opportunity to represent and listen to all students. I want to ensure that the SU run fun activities to appeal to everybody and that issues students are facing are dealt with.
It is so important to me that every student feels happy, supported and free to be themselves while they are at college. Some ways I aim to make this happen are by making pronoun badges available to you, to allow you to express who you are. Mental health is another topic which is important to me, and I want to help students improve their wellbeing as well as signposting them to places where they can get support within the college.
The best way for me to find out about what students want or issues within the college is by talking to you! I am always happy to chat about anything from mental health to musical theatre so feel free to say ‘hi’ if you see me around and have a problem or just want somebody to talk to.
It was wonderful to meet so many lovely students at the City campus Freshers’ Fair. It was a very busy event and I as the Deputy President spoke to lots of students about all the clubs and societies we offer as well as how they could become officers. The SU ran a crack the code where students had to decode the words to find out about how they could get involved. We had 54 students participate in the activity which was fantastic and all of them have been entered into a prize draw for the chance to win a voucher.
Similarly, alongside the Deputy President, I also ran a Scavenger Hunt at Hillsborough College where students had to hunt around campus to retrieve hidden words associated with how you can get involved in the Students Union. Around 40 students completed this, all being entered into a prize draw. I met lots of new faces and lots of existing students. There were also many fun activities running throughout the day on other stalls, such as face paint, connect four, a photobooth and much more. Overall, it was a very successful day for everyone.
