It was also Chinese New Year on the 17th February, which symbolises good fortune and brings people together. There has been lots of exciting social media content involving students on TikTok and Instagram, and the SU are always open to ideas from you all as well as if you'd like to get involved in any filming! ✨

What else can you expect to see at this event? Cultural snacks from different nationalities, a photobooth, lantern making, a world map activity, face painting. There will be decorations and music with a range of cultural dishes on offer, made by our catering students.
A Eid Celebration Event is taking place on the 23rd March at City Campus, ran by the Muslim Girls' Society and there will be so much more to look out for. We can't wait for the event to begin, and we're hoping to see you all there!

The Sheffield College Charity of the Year
We’re delighted to reveal Sheffield Hospitals Charity as Team Sheffcol’s Charity of the Year. This means that throughout the year, fundraising activities that we run – from bake sales and talent shows to collection buckets and special events – will help raise vital funds for Sheffield Hospitals Charity.
You will also have the opportunity to get hands-on by volunteering at Sheffield Hospitals Charity events or even organising your own fundraisers with the support of your tutors. We’ll also be encouraging Team Sheffcol to get involved in selected events, showing the impact we can make when we come together as a college community.
Sheffield Hospitals Charity help Sheffield’s hospitals, community teams and health and social care services to cover the costs that the NHS can’t. By funding support for patients and staff, life-changing research and more, they enhance care from birth to the end of life and everything in between.
The charity makes a huge difference to people right here in our city.
Getting involved will give you the chance to:
Develop new skills through planning fundraising events, teamwork and volunteering
Strengthen CVs and UCAS applications with real-world experiences
Build confidence by taking part in fundraising activities and community events
Take pride in making a positive difference in Sheffield
Whether you want to run a small fundraiser or volunteer at a Sheffield Hospitals Charity event as part of Team Sheffcol, there will be lots of ways to get involved from taking part in a sponsored hike or run, to selling cakes and crafts.
Please speak to your tutor or email fundraising@sheffcol.ac.uk if you are interested in taking part.

SEND Voices Network
Are you a student at the college who receives support from the SEND team or identifies as having a disability? We have connected with other colleges across South Yorkshire to form a SEND voices network - a space where learners can meet and discuss their experiences. This group also is hoping to make improvements in SEND student voice across colleges in the longer term, with the aim being “to build a stronger, more inclusive South Yorkshire—one where every young person with SEND is heard, represented, and empowered.”
As part of this, the group is working to gather experiences from students with SEND in college. Please contact studentvoice@sheffcol.ac.uk to be involved or share your experiences!
