Menstrual Hygiene Day 2023
Menstrual Hygiene Day 2023
28th May is Menstrual Hygiene Day, so look out for stalls popping up at different campuses in May, offering free period products and some information surrounding the day. To find out more about the aims of Menstrual Hygiene Day, you can check out their website here.
Their vision is:
"By 2030, it is possible to create a world where no one is held back because they menstruate. This means a world menstruation can be managed safely, hygienically, with confidence, and without shame:
everyone can access and afford the menstrual product of their choice
period stigma is a thing of the past
everyone has basic information about menstruation
everyone can access period-friendly water, sanitation and hygiene facilities everywhere"
As part of this, we will also be promoting the College's free period products, that are available to all students, whenever they are needed throughout the year. At City (in Upper Student Central) and Hillsborough (next to reception) there are 'help yourself' boxes of pads and tampons, and at other campuses they are available from reception.
We will also be looking to expand the range of period products on offer, including more sustainable options. If you would like to suggest some products you would like to see the College offering out for free, do let us know by emailing studentsunion@sheffcol.ac.uk
