Volunteering Opportunity – do you want to help transform the futures of South Yorkshire residents?
South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority is developing a Skills Strategy and Implementation Plan for South Yorkshire.
Developing a skills strategy is an opportunity to secure better life outcomes for all residents across South Yorkshire.
Investment in education, skills and employability will drive a change in the ambition, raise aspirations and transform the economic fortunes of South Yorkshire residents.
It is important this skills strategy works for all South Yorkshire and they would like to hear from you!
The Student Participation Team and the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority are running a focus group at The Sheffield College to explore how South Yorkshire could adapt, improve or shape different elements of education, training and employment.
It will be an opportunity to explore the priorities for the Skills Strategy and Implementation Plan (SSIP).
The focus group will take place Wednesday 2nd November 1:00 – 2:30pm, in the Board Room (TG04), City Campus.
This is a great chance to have your Student Voice heard across the region and this experience will be fantastic to add to your CV or UCAS Personal Statement!
You will be compensated for your time and will receive vouchers worth £15 at the end of the focus group.
If you’d like to attend please email the Student Participation Team on Studentvoice@sheffcol.ac.uk

Below is some information on sessions in November, with the theme of the month being 'Goal Setting'
All successful people set and achieve goals. So, why don't you help yourself to become one of them? If you are interested in being inspired about daring yourself to dream, overcoming your fear of growth, then this is the talk for you!
Most of us have ambitions, but, not all of us allow ourselves the privilege of daring to think about achieving our dreams! Or perhaps, for various reasons, we don't always end up achieving what we set our soul on. Have you ever wondered why that is?
Understanding the reasons for why we might not set goals or achieve them enables us to develop strategies to overcome whatever it is that is stopping us! Because if we don't know, we can't change, right? If you want to learn how to set and smash your goals, then what are you waiting for?
Setting realistic and achievable goals that can push and challenge you is a skill which is essential for success. People who implement goal setting into their lives are generally more motivated and as a skill, we want to help you build it into your life! Whether you would like to set academic, personal or lifestyle goals, setting targets can help you plan out your short and long term achievements, giving you the tools to effectively organise your time and energy to get the best results!
In this interactive and engaging masterclass you will learn what goal setting actually means, how it can help you and lastly, learn techniques to help you turn your dreams into a reality!
Sound interesting? What are you waiting for?
