What is your role in regards to supporting student personal development and enrichment in the college?

My role in the College has been to help create an exciting and inclusive personal development programme. This means ensuring that all students have access to:

A College wide induction so that everyone knows our: values, expectations, and services.
All forms of internal and external pastoral care.
A thought provoking tutorial range of topics.

A system of group tutorials and one to one tutorials.
College wide enrichment events, such as sport and citizenship.

What is SHAPE your Future?

SHAPE represents the full tutorial and enrichment programme. This is an extensive programme of events and activities under the themes of: Safety, Health, Active Citizenship, Progress and Careers, and Equality. The Shape your Future offer will be accessible in a range of forms, such as: webinars, pre-recorded events, live events, activities, societies, and campaigns. It is also the tutorial topics you cover in academic tutorials.

How else can students get support through academic tutorials and their Tutorial Mentors?

Academic tutorials are in place to help students in a number of ways:

Support from your academic tutor to discuss your academic progress, grades and course targets.
Personal development, well being, careers and progression topics are covered throughout the year from different College staff, such as Tutorial Mentors and Careers Advisors.
These times may be used to catch up with your Tutorial Mentor to discuss your progress, well being and engagement.

You may have one to one tutorials around your timetable. These are really important as your tutorial mentor will be able to help guide you through: personal development, course targets and progression.

What is the Student Experience site?

Our Student Experience Site is where we share the wide range of SHAPE topics. The Site allows us to house all the extension support material each topic area has to offer. It has a great section on internal and external support services you can access.
