Information about HeppSY
Hi there everyone! This is Grace and Gina from HeppSY. You might have seen us around campus or in your classrooms already, but here’s a quick introduction to who we are.
What is HeppSY?
HeppSY (The Higher Education Progression Partnership South Yorkshire) is a programme designed to work with students to give them the best possible opportunities to make an informed choice about their future, and to learn about routes into and through higher education. We’re funded by the Office for Students and work in partnership with The University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University. HeppSY are in schools and colleges all over South Yorkshire, but we (Grace and Gina) are placed specifically here at The Sheffield College.
Who are we?
Because we are based at The Sheffield College, working with the careers team, it gives us a better chance to work with students and really help you where needed. We’ll be doing workshops in your classroom, keeping you informed through the UCAS process, and organise visits and visitors to and from Higher Education Institutions (Universities). We’re each based cross college and can pop over to wherever campus is needed.
Grace:
I moved to Sheffield from my hometown of Grimsby to study Performance for Stage and Screen at Sheffield Hallam university and have stayed here ever since. If you’d like to get in touch, you can email me at g.halton@shu.ac.uk
Gina:
I studied Fine Art and English Literature at university, I loved the experience so much I went on to get a masters degree in Eighteenth Century Studies. Feel free to pop by for a chat to Student Central or you can email me at georgina.self@sheffcol.ac.uk
HeppSY Competition
Grace and Gina are also collecting data on behalf of HeppSY about learners' aspirations and knowledge related to higher education.
We would be grateful if you could complete this short survey asap, if you haven't done so already. Who knows, if you complete the survey in full, you might win a prize!
We would like to capture your higher education (HE) aspiration, plans for the future, and other outcomes related to outreach interventions, including understanding of HE knowledge, HE life, and HE benefits, and their sense of belonging, motivation to HE, and academic self-efficacy.
The survey will be live until 16th December via the button below!
Prizes up for grabs: two £100 high-street vouchers for two students drawn from the institutions with the top five response rate; £20 high-street vouchers for 50 students drawn from the ones who complete the survey in full.
