NearPod

Special thanks to Jeremy Greenway for helping with this page.

Nearpod is an excellent instructional technology tool. This tool can help in engaging the students, aid in providing immediate feedback to teachers and students in multiple avenues, can easily bring cyberspace into the lesson and to the students, provides multiple activities for the students, provides a PDF of the entire session, and Nearpod offers other lessons/sessions already created by other members.

Any Sanger ISD teacher would benefit from utilizing Nearpod as an instructional technology tool. Each teacher could creatively and intelligently create a class specific Nearpod for their students, skills, and content. Nearpod can be used to guide the entire class time, the beginning, end, or just a specific part of the class. We have several teachers in the district that have used Nearpod. Marsha Marsh started using it this year, and she enjoys using it. Marsha has infused Quizlet within her sessions, and enjoys using Nearpod for writing and discussions.

Nearpod is easy to get started and to implement within the classroom. To start, just go to Nearpod.com. The instructions on here are helpful. You can even browse through other lessons already created to get ideas or to use these lessons. Basically, you create a Nearpod account (basic version is free), create a session, publish it, and then you are ready for a live session. Once ready to run the lesson with a class, you create a live session, you’ll get a code, and the students login and use that code. There are many Youtube videos out there that can give you snapshots on the versatility of Nearpod.

If you would like a step-by-step pdf of how to use Nearpod, check it out here. Nearpod also offers self-paced courses here. The video below may also help.

If you have some great examples of Nearpod, share them with the form below. If you would like assistance using Nearpod or any other formative assessment tool, fill out the Integration Help form here.
