Teacher recommendation as course requires extensive field work

What can be learned from the local Cape Cod Environment?

This course will provide students with hands-on, problem solving experience in environmental field and laboratory measurements. Students will learn and use methods for soil sampling, water quality analysis (freshwater and marine), population studies, and pollution analysis. Students will conduct a semester-long, independent project in collaborative teams, that contributes to the community and uses a wide variety of technology and resources. Students may also participate in the Project LIFE (Lessons in Field Ecology) program in which they will teach forest ecology to Sandwich 4th graders. Due to the emphasis on trust, collaboration, and independent field work, the teacher and school counselor reserve the right to consult with administration regarding course placement.
