How is mathematics connected to real world applications?

This course was designed for students who have a strong desire to pursue engineering as a career choice once leaving high school. Innovative approaches to building structures, cars, towers, parking lots, parks, roller coasters, all help students prepare for 21st Century critical thinking as well as problem solving skills. Students learn to work collaboratively as engineers to pursue ways of successfully completing desired tasks. The final exam is a detailed Rube Goldberg project in which teams collaborate to build a machine that includes many properties of math and physics. All activities will allow students to contribute mathematically to the real world by gaining competence and confidence.
