What are the primary functions of the human body systems?

Students will be introduced to all of the major body systems and how they work together; including the digestive, circulatory, respiratory, nervous, muscular/skeletal, and sexual/reproductive systems. Students will also learn that communication among cells is required for the coordination of body functions and that the body’s systems interact to maintain homeostasis. The topic of chemical health will also be explored, including the effects of alcohol, tobacco, and drug use on the body systems. Students are assessed on their performance during group work, individual work, and knowledge of the material covered.
