Students will study American literature as a reflection of American society and cultural traditions and explore its relevance in our lives today. Students will pay particular attention to the events in history which inspired the literature, and its reflection of society. Students will engage in literary analysis, demonstrating their skill in projects, discussion, and writing. During the summer, in addition to the schoolwide required summer reading selection, students who elect to take honors will read Walk Through Darkness, by David Anthony Durham.
