On November 8th Freeport High School's Jobs for Maine's Graduates (JMG) students, led by teacher Jay Harper, learned some valuable lessons, had some fun, and contributed to a worthy cause. The students acted as leaders and chaperones as their counterparts from Durham Community School and Freeport Middle School learned job-readiness skills and leadership, and improved their community connections. They participated in a scavenger hunt at Bow Street Market that netted $80 worth of food for the Freeport Community Services food pantry. They went to LL Bean and chose clothes that would be suitable to wear for a job interview, taking photographs of the clothes they selected. They went to Olympia Sports and sorted shoes. They worked in small groups to complete a list of tasks that included: introducing themselves appropriately, completing challenges, and displaying appropriate behavior. It was a great collaboration within the RSU5 JMG programs and local businesses.
