Art Club Students at Maine Med

The Activities Director from the Barbara Bush Wing at MMC visited the Art Club students to educate them about her work.  She shared the services that are provided, and examples of types of patients that can reside in the wing at any time for different reasons.  Students learned how important it is for the patients to feel some sense of normalcy and how healing it is for them to participate in a variety of activities offered.  On March 16 eight FHS students and art teacher, Kimberly Medsker-Mehalic packed up the school van with art supplies and headed to the Barbara Bush Wing to design and paint hospital room windows.  Some got to work and interact with the patients.  Others quietly and respectfully painted the requested theme while the patients were receiving medical treatment or resting.
