Interact Benefit Event

The FHS Interact Club hosted the 2nd annual Moonlight Madness 1 mile run/walk event on Thanksgiving night at 11:45pm to raise money for the Carol Kaplan Fuel Assistance Fund of Freeport Community Services.  This event was in partnership with Olympia Sports.   Students worked hard securing donations, finding local sponsors, creating flyers and marketing the event, organizing volunteers and tasks, packing Swag bags, race day registration, race marshal duties, and set up and clean up.  There were over 75 participants who came, despite the power outages and cold temperatures.   Santa on his Harley led the racers through downtown Freeport.   Once the race was over, the stores opened their doors and Black Friday began.  It was a very successful event.  They raised $1200 for the fuel assistance fund which was an increase from last year, even though we had less participants.  A big thanks to our sponsors: Olympia Sports, Vineyard Vines, Bath Savings Institution, Azure Cafe, Cartmell and Associates at Kellar Williams, Casco Bay Ford, Cool As a Moose, Ben and Jerry's, Familiezyt, Freeport Merchants Association, Pet Pantry, Gritty's, Morgan Stanley, Powers and French, Subway, Riley Insurance, and Coffee By Design.
