Students in the 2014/15 AP Environmental Science classes had their debut with the Forestry Inventory Growth project that was established last year by other F.H.S. classes who set up permanent plots in the LL Bean forest off of Desert Rd. Students worked with forester Steve Gettle and Shane Duigan this fall to learn about forestry practices and collect data that will be used to estimate the health and the value of the forested land. They will return again in the spring. This will be an on-going service project for future classes, who will visit the plot 2-3 times a year to record progress and comparative analysis of the health of the forest. This project is in collaboration with LL Bean and Project Learning Tree.
