WEEK 10
WALT: Finish all our work
Last week's assembly korero was ' Finish it of properly'. This week we are going to make sure each of the tasks have been completed 100%.
1. Using this page as a checklist work through from Week 1 and check that you have completed each task.
2. When you find a task that you have not completed go ahead and "Finish it of properly.
3. Make sure each task is filed in your writing folder and turned in to the blog log.
4. When you have finished all the tasks let your teacher know. There may be a prize for you.
WEEK 8 & 9
WALT: Identify and use personification in our poems.
This term we have looked at Rhyme & Similes. This week we are learning about PERSONIFICATION.
Task
You can either write a poem from scratch, or write one that has the title
When I'm an old lady/man.
- Create your doc, then file it and turn it in
Your poem must:
a) - Have at least one example of Personification
b) - Have at least one simile
c) - Rhyme
d) - Have at least 3 stanzas (sections)

WEEK 5 & 6
WALT: Manage ourselves and our time to complete a piece
of writing.
Task - It's time to free write.
Task
This week your task is to write about anything you like!
You could write about a recount about something you have
experienced recently or you could write a narrative about something. It could be a mystery, comedy, action or any other genre you like. You can write about anything you like.
Some points to remember are:
1 - Plan you writing first
2 - Make sure you are proud of your writing.
3 - Make sure you edit your writing as you.
4 - Other people will be reading your writing so make sure you
think about the audience you are writing for before starting.
5 - File and turn your writing in

3 - The boy who looked like a goat
Remember, your writing needs to engage your audience and make sense.

WEEK 4
WALT: Write creatively with our senses.
Task - Senses & Similes
This week we are looking at our senses and smilies!
Can we come up with new and imaginative ways to describe
what we smell, feel, taste and hear? (notice i left out see)
Task
1 - Copy the doc (look to your right), file it and turn it in.
2 - Work through activity with your teacher
3 - Write a creative description about the foods you ate. Carefully and creatively describe the food you ate using similes and other creative adjectives. Your goal is to write a descriptions so others would be able to identify the food you are talking about without actually saying what the food is.
Title your writing - What am I? Write from the perspective of the food.
Example : I am as sour as baking soda. I have a gritty outside layer but am as soft as Jelly on the inside...
4 - Post your description on your blog
WEEK 3
WALT: Engage our readers with interesting new similes.
Task
A simile is a comparison of two things using the words like or as
E.g her hands were as cold as ice
However, some similes have been used way too much, making them boring to read. We’re going to fix that because we’re not into boring writing.
1 - Copy the presentation (look to your right), file it and turn it in.
2 - For each of the boring simile think about an interesting
alternative that will bring the simile to life again.
e.g. as cold as ice = as cold as snowman's bottom
3 - Compare your similes with a friend's.
4 - Pretty up the presentation and post it on your blog with a paragraph
explaining it.

Task
In the last week of term 1 the Year 8's had a fantastic time being away at camp and the Year 7's had an amazing time doing fun activities at school.
As a way of sharing our experiences with one another we are going to create an article informing others about what we got up to in that last week. These articles will be collected and put together as a magazine or online magazine.
- You will plan your writing with your teacher in class.
