Week 9
WALT: - Include our senses in our writing
TASK
This week you are going to write a narrative about a science experiment gone wrong.
Instructions
1 - Start this presentation to collect vocabulary and ideas you may use in your writing.
2 - Watch video to right. Grab some ideas and language from this video.
3 - Use presentation again to gather learning evidence.
3 - Create a Doc, turn it in and start writing.

Your narrative should include:
1. Title
2. Characters
3. A set of instructions
4. Problem
5. Solution
Week 6 &7
WALT: Write a clear set of instructions for someone to follow
TASK
Take what you have learnt about instructional writing and write a set of instructions for a simple every day task such as: Brushing your teeth, making a cup of Milo or making a sandwich etc. You are writing these instructions for a Year 4 students to follow. Remember to choose a task that you know how to do well.
Your instructions should contain:
1 - Title
2 - A list of things you will need
3 - Clear and simple steps about what to do to complete the task
4 - Pictures or diagrams if necessary.
Create your instructions using Google Slides, Doc or Draw. File it an turn it in.
Week 7 - Science investigation instructions.
Instructions:
Open and make a copy of the 'Instructional Verbs' presentation to the right - file it!
Work through the presentation with class & teacher
Choose 3 topics and write a clear set of instructions for it.
Week 3:
Narrative writing - Do your best in the test!
Week 4 & 5: Instructional Writing
WALT: Identify features of instructional writing
Create instructions that are concise and easy to follow
WALT: practise strategies we can use during our writing test
Instructions:
Class brainstorm of some of the learning intentions we have covered so far.
Model and show exemplars which match the past learning intentions.
Practise writing as a class putting these things in place.

Discuss with your group the attitude talk by Paula. Highlights and key ideas from his talk. Make a copy of this presentation - "Hauora" use this to record your ideas.
Week 2:
Narrative writing - using a picture prompt!
WALT: Use vocab to enhance meaning and mood
Instructions:
Create a Doc and name it 'T4W2 narrative prompt'
Write a narrative based on the prompt provided on the right
Use the checklist on the right to ensure you have effective paragraphs.
Check the editing video again while editing your writing.
Publish onto your blog with a creative title.
Week 1:
Creative writing - immersion assembly inspiration for narrative!
WALT: Use the T.O.P.S model to write a narrative.
Instructions:
Make a copy of the TOPS presentation on the right.
Recall the characters from Team 5 staff item
Create a profile for all characters. Add these to your presentation
Use the team 5 item to base your narrative on. Plan your ideas on the the plan.
Remember to edit your writing! Use the video on the right to help you remember how to edit.
