Dear Puma,
Updates are listed below:
Redskins Games
We need workers for the Redskins game this Sunday. Students, please be mindful that you are responsible to help raise money for the band. All band members are encouraged to obtain a Redskins ID badge and participate. The money being raised will be used to purchase uniforms, help pay for buses, offset the cost of our proposed trip to the Honda Battle of The Bands, and a host of other things. Students, remember that I, Mr. Jiles, do not have and will not have funds to offer any free trips. If you are planning to travel with the band and raise money for uniforms you must participate. If you do not help yourself, I will not be able to help you.
Instrumental Parents, I need your support, please obtain a Redskins ID badge so that I will not have to work every home game. I must adult supervision at every game. I really need you assistance. Next month I start back taking my doctoral classes and I will not have time to work the games. Please help.
Instrumental students may register to work the Redskins game by completing the online registration form on the Band Google site. Auxiliaries must follow the proscribed procedures of your squad. Thank you for your time.

One Band, One Sound
Students, be mindful that we are one band. Although we have many auxiliaries, it is about the band. No one is greater or better than anyone. We have to function as one complete unit. Therefore, I will not tolerate or accept any band member or team talking about or disrespecting another member of the band. I do not teach disrespect. The band motto is:
The legacy begins with me
Motivtated
Dedicated
Respsectful
Responsible
Teachable
Puma Pride
Students, let's live what we should believe.
Auxiliaries, you are a member of the band. When we come together you are expected to function as one team. When the band stands up, you are expected to stand up. We function as one unit. We all do the same thing when directed to do so. Please do not let me have to remind you again.
Jiles Notes
Students, I expect and will continue to demand the best from you. I know you can do it and I expect you to do so. lately, I have noticed a lot of immature and destructive behavior. Please get yourself together, realize that the band is not about you. Remember that united we stand and divided we fall. At Morgan State we really came together. Let's continue and build upon that. I will address the entire band at 4pm at our scheduled rehearsal. I expect to see the full band in my room Thursday at 4pm. Please be prompt. Coaches, please confirm receipt of this e-mail.
Students, I believe in you! You are the best band in the world. Therefore, I will demand and expect the best from you and nothing less.
Parents, I need your assistance. We, need a functioning Band Booster Club. Your child needs your support. I cannot continue to offer a quality program without your assistance. Currently, only two parents have answered the call to help. I need the following ASAP:
1. A few parents to help out on game days. My student band managers need assistance passing out and receiving uniforms.
2. I need Adult supervision on game days. Wise is a large building and I cannot alone monitor the band room, the halls, and bathrooms at the same time. I need help containing the band students in the band hall so they will not roam the building unsupervised.
3. I need helping hands. You would not believe the number of questions and issues I have to deal with on games days. I need help. HELP. Dads, I need more man power.
4. I need more parents to ride the bus with me. I cannot monitor the front and back of the bus at the same time. Help me keep our students safe.
5. I need a few parents to help make uniform adjustments. Several uniforms need hem adjustments and need to be taken in. If you know how to sew and can help out. Please do. In addition, several uniforms are in need of repair. Buttons are missing. We need donations of gold buttons. Help.
6. Our students need water after they perform. I need each family to donate two cases of water and I need ice donations on game days. Most importantly, I need a few parents to organize, supervise, and implement this effort. In the past, I would do this myself however, I cannot effectively be all things. I need more time to focus on music and performance and not handing logistical issues, passing out uniforms, Hats, Plumes, water bottles, trying to fix a broken instrument, cutting locks off (lost keys) lockers, finding rubber bands, pens, checking attendance, finding lost uniform hangers, locating misplaced hats, finding the banner pole, monitoring the bathroom, picking up trash in and outside the building, collecting permission forms, issuing receipts, collecting money, dealing with a misplaced permission form, responding to phone calls, going to the office to retrieve a faxed permission form, and locating a misplaced instrument. I am sure I have missed a few things.
Yes, I do and have done all of that by myself. As you can see, I need help. HELP!
