Band Updates Week of September 17, 2012
1. Thank you to those who participated in the game this past Saturday.
2. I have a few concerns:
A. Several students violated the uniform agreement by eating while in uniform. Students, be mindful that if your uniform is stained beyond repair you or your parents will be responsible for replacing the entire uniform. The uniform agreement states, “There will be no food/drink at anytime (exception of water) while in uniform.” (p. 1)
B. Saturday, four students left without putting away their hat. Once those students have been identified, you will lose 700-performance points.
C. Parents, I need your support. Band students are expected to stay for the entire game. I am not able to go back and forth to the band room.
D. Students, do not litter. For the past two home games band students have deposited trash on the ground, in the band room, and inside the building. In addition, many of you leave food and food wrappers in the band room. Effective immediately, no food or drink is allowed in the band room.
3. No practice Monday however we will practice Thursday & Friday from 4-7:30pm.
4. The music & performance order for homecoming is as follows:
A. Drum Major Entrance: TBA
B. Marching Cadence: BSU (New)
C. Drill Song: Early In The Morning
D. Band Dancers: Let It Whip
E. Flags / Batons: Never Satisfied (
Due to time restraints the Flags and Batons performance will be combined. We have to leave time for the homecoming court.
D. Band Dance
E. Move to tunnel for the homecoming court.
F. March off the field.
5. Students, if you have paid the uniform cleaning fee, please submit it this week. Those who do not pay will not be allowed to wear a marching uniform for homecoming, will not participate in the homecoming activities, and will lose performance points.
6. Parents, Guardians,
I need your help supervising students, passing out and collecting uniforms, and monitoring the students. There is no way I can be in the band room, in the hallway, by the vending machines, and monitoring the lavatories. This is a safety issue; band students are roaming the building unsupervised. I am not able to be everywhere at one time. I could really use your help to keep our kids safe. Wise is a big building. All it takes is one incident and things can get bad really fast. Help.
I need assistance with the following:
A. Pass out and collect uniforms. (3-4 Parents)
B. Monitor the entrance door. (1-Parent)
C. Monitor the hall way (2-Parents)
D. Monitor the instrument storage room (1-parent)
E. Assist students with uniform issues. (jammed zippers, missing buttons, earrings, gum, candy)
F. Check for uniform compliance. (solid black shoes and socks)
7. All non-performing students or non functioning managers must enter at the main gate and pay $5.00 in order to gain entrance. No exceptions.
