Hello Band Parents---
Happy New Year! I want to personally thank each of you for volunteering your valuable time during the Redskins game this season. As you know, these games provide much needed funds for band supplies and activities. We want to give back and let the Redskins Foundation know just how much we appreciate their allowing us to benefit from participating as volunteers and helping our children grow in terms of customer service hours and work experience. To officially thank them, we will host a reception early April (date TBD). We anticipate inviting Patty Huber, Director of Retail, along with 8-10 members of her staff with whom we have worked with personally, Mr. King and others in the community who may be able to provide fundraising activities/sponsorships in the future. Simple Elements Jazz Band will provide entertainment for the evening.
I need your help. We will put together small tokens of appreciation for the Redskins staff to include a plaque, a thank you card and various knickknacks for each of our honored guests. For those of you who have been with us a while, we hosted a reception several years ago at the end of our Spring Concert & Awards Program. What I need from you, are volunteers who are willing to help prepare the gift bags; invitation letters (Mr. King, Councilman Dean, Toll Brothers, Peaches Café & other area businesses); help with purchasing food items (appetizers only); and individuals who can help decorate and clean up afterwards. As many of our children are graduating this year, I would like to leave a legacy behind for those students who follow. We will also honor our graduating seniors at this event. As many of you know, this will be my last year as Volunteer Coordinator i.e. Everybody’s Momma during the Redskins games. I am going to miss “All My Children” but I hope to find a successor who’s willing to continue the fundraising tradition for the Wise Band.
While I don’t have the email addresses of all parents and volunteers for HWHS Band, please share this message with those that you are aware of if possible. I think we have the best group of fundraisers ever at HWHS and we want our students to be proud of this accomplishment and continue our commitment for years to come. Please let me know if you have any ideas, spare time, ideas or spare time to help with this event (LOL). Thank you all and make it a great day!
