Hello Puma Band,
I wanted to share with you what one of band members wrote:
"Band, Attention!"
"HWHS"
The pressure, passion, and joy that accomponies these words is nothing compared to the happiness you feel when your standing there in front of everyone in the audience. Everyone's faith is in your hands. As the audience dances to the jams the magnificent band plays. Some ask, what can motivate you to lead? I want to lead because I believe the band is a family. If one grows old and must leave then the young must step up and rise above all circumstances. To believe that if I put my all my faith into the band it will not be abused. To lead, you must first believe. Believe that the group of people behind you has your back, believe that they will know all of their music, believe that they will never disgrace the name of the band or its founders, and to believe that their is no limit to greatness. Being drum major to me, is not really to be in charge and tell people what to do. I want to be able to provide myself with oppurtunities that are in align with my dreams as a teacher. Their are so many unique personalities in the band, I don't know where to start. I believe that if you're doing the right thing at the right time, and your consistant, then others are bound to follow. One way to improve the band is to hear the opinions of the band. From the song selection to the number of practices we have or what we do at practice, technically. We can improve the band by having an open mind that is keen to greatness. I am available and can fulfill the duties as drum major. I have set a plan, so that soccer cannot interfere with band this fall. I am able to attend all rehearsals and performances during the 2012-2013 school year. My discipline plan depends on what the band member has done. For example, if the band member is consistantly disrespecting their band leader, then I will have them removed from practice and see whats going on. But I would make them do 90's'if they are out of line due to the fact that it would benefit the band as a whole. Depending on the situation, I would rarely do push ups or make them run.
