Hello Band:
I am writing to see if anyone is interested in hosting an interntionl student for the school year. The information is below:
Thanks for your interest in the exchange experience and joining us in beautiful Louisiana for the NEA conference.
My name is Curt Carlson and I work for the non-profit High School Exchange Organization called CIEE, and I am inquiring as to whether you would be interested in hosting or assisting us place some international high school exchange students. We are looking for welcoming communities in MD.
Because of your dedication to education and your interest in our booth, we thought you may be someone or know of someone that is in the position to host a CIEE student in or around the Upper marlboro area. We have open slots in some local high schools. We accept all kinds of families - kids, no kids, empty nesters, single parents, and so on. The main requirement is kindness and a willingness to learn about a foreign culture. Your family will not only gain a new member, you will also learn about the world, its many values, traditions, languages, food, and more.
We have several students coming from all over the world who would love to be placed in a family with similar interests to their own. Our organization is trying to best accommodate our kids, so perhaps you can help us. Hosting an exchange student proves to be a great promoter of diversity and diplomacy for the local communities, which is one of our first and foremost goals.
Our students have the appropriate visa, medical insurance and pay for all of their own expenses, with the exception of food and utilities. If you are not in the position right now to host a student we would greatly appreciate your help in forwarding this along to your network of friends and family. They are arriving in August and are on a 10 month program. You may act as a welcome family and bring the student into your community for a part of their experience as well.
I've included a couple of specific students’ profiles below - please take a look! Again, please feel welcome to pass them along to anyone you think might be interested in welcoming these future leaders into their home. As active community members we thought we would reach out to you and introduce these remarkable young people.
There is a great webpage full of great videos, stories and pictures at http://www.ciee.org/highschool/about-us/yearbook.html from this past year’s students please enjoy them as we do.
Thanks for taking the time Theresa we value your consideration.
