Day +04

Mick McKellar Update — +4

Good evening all of you. Once again, my day has been one of mixed blessings. The weather in Rochester turned colder, making the morning commute chillier and helping me to realize that my old resistance to cold and chill is a thing of the past. The night passed fitfully, but with minimum interruption by Mother Nature — who seems on alert now more than ever before.

This morning’s tests included another EKG. Uncertain why they needed to verify once again that I have a heart, I asked if the operator expected to find a broken heart. Humor is a difficult concept, especially at 9:00 AM CST. On the plus side, there was no longer any intimation of any A-fib (or Atrial fibrillation). So my life clock goes on ticking.

I continue to lose a few pounds, but no fluids were necessary. Apparently the bucket and funnel approach is helping to keep up my fluid levels. I managed to walk from Gift of Life Transplant House to the Rochester Methodist Hospital Pharmacy for a refill this afternoon and trundled all the way back again. I can tell you though, it left me limp as a rag. Where has all that energy gone.

I as I pray tonight, to thank all you wonderful folks for your support, prayers, and cards (received two cheery cards in today’s mail), my return prayers will include some I did not expect prior to a sudden phone call this evening.

An F2 Touchdown in Lakewood, TN

I’m asking that you please send out some prayers for my brother Kevin and his family, and all the residents in and around Old Hickory and Lakewood, TN. Although their home was not damaged last night, many neighbors in the small town of Lakewood, TN suffered damage from what has been reported as a F2 tornado. No lives were lost in Lakewood, but many are without power and property damage is substantial. To see a sample, check out this link:

Please pray for their safety, the return of power (especially for heat and sanitation), and for the support teams already focused on helping them clean up and begin recovery. Not all pics are of Lakewood, but represent that surrounding area. Please add your prayers to mine tonight.

I thank you for your prayers and will have more news about day +5 tomorrow. For now, I must rest and get ready for tomorrow’s testing.

Bless you all.
