Monday:
Today in class we learned about area and perimeter of parallelograms.
- We experimented with the base and height of parallelograms
- We briefly discussed how we would solve for the perimeter of a parallelogram
- We derived the formula for the area of a parallelogram
Homework:
- Last 4 questions on Schoology: Investigation 4.2
- IXL Sections F.F.3 & F.F4, Due Friday
Tuesday:
Today in class we continued to explore the area and perimeter of parallelograms
- We went through and worked on examples of solving for the area and the perimeter of a parallelogram
- We worked with partners and with the whole class.
Homework:
- Worksheet (or last 2 pages on the Schoology assignment for today)
- IXL Sections F.F.3 & F.F4, Due Friday
Wednesday:
Today in class we explored and learned about the area and perimeters of triangles.
- We learned about the base and height of triangles
- We reviewed how to classify triangles by their sides (right, isosceles, and scalene)
- We created a "triangle family" based on triangles with a base of 6 cm and a height of 4 cm.
- We derived the formula for the area of a triangle: B * h/ , OR B*h*1/2, OR (B*h)/2
Homework:
- Worksheet (#18-22) (also available on Schoology, the last image)
- IXL F.F.3 Due Friday
Thursday:
Today we continued to explore the area and perimeter of triangles.
- We reviewed the formulas (methods for solving area and perimeter problems for triangles)
- A=Bh/2 or A=1/2Bh
- Perimeter: add up the lengths of the 3 sides together
- We did a matching problem with the areas of triangles in small groups
Homework:
- Worksheet (or last 2 pages on Schoology assignment for today)
- Work on Problems #3-20
- IXL Section F.F.3 Due tomorrow (F.F.4 Due Next week)
