Xuân có học tiếng Anh ở trường nhưng không giỏi lắm.

Một hôm Xuân đang đi chơi thì đói bụng.

Xuân đến tiệm đồ ăn nhanh để mua đồ ăn.

Lúc người bán hàng hỏi, "Can I help you?"

Xuân nói, "Give me uh... a spicy chicken sandwich."

Người bán hàng nghĩ, "Why is she so rude?"

In this project, you will explore what a Vietnamese immigrant needs to buy to start a new life in the US and what they need to know regarding some cross-cultural pragmatic norms in basic shopping transactions. You will put the information into a Help Information Brochure.

Your target audience are the Vietnamese visitors to a help center for immigrants such as Pacific Gateway Center in Honolulu (see their ESL program website), or an office that helps international students on your campus, such as the Honda Center at Kapiolani Community College, Hawaii.

Toward the end of the project, you will present your brochure in class.
