Inventor Assembly Lecture topics:
Assembly drawings show parts of a machine unit assembled in their relative working positions.
Accepted practice to be observed on assembly drawings are:
Hidden lines and dimensions are usually omitted.
Dimensions showing overall size and center-to-center indicating the relationship of parts in the machine as a whole are sometimes given. But detail dimensions are omitted.
Numbers located in balloons pointing to the part by a leader identifies parts on an assembly drawing.
A Bill of Material or Parts List is a list of parts placed on an assembly drawing above the title block.
The bill contains the item number, description name, material, quantity, and number of each item or part.
The use of sectioning is very common in assembly drawings to show how parts are positioned.
Inventor Assembly Assignment:
Instructions: Create an Inventor Assembly using the parts you created last week for the Inventor Parts Assignment: The collar, bearing, and base plate. Constrain the three parts together as demonstrated above.
Fasteners (e.g. screws) are not required for this assignment.
Create an assembly drawing layout-showing balloons with leaders and a parts list.
Submit a printed copy of the assembly drawing layout for grading by using the MAE3 Inch_Template.idw border drawing (see reference material above).
Your name and section number, drawing title, and date will appear on the drawing.
Refer to the title block of the drawing layout of GUIDE BLOCK below as an example.
In printing options, please select "Best Fit/Fit to Page."
