Moments Challenge

Overview

Solve the moment problems below before lab. In lab, your team will test your result on the Wall of Moments in the hallway outside the Design Studio. If the weight tests for both this moment exercise and the gear exercise are successful and the calculations are correct, the team will receive an extra high power component to add to their robot kit!
VariableValue
 Mass1: m1 75g
 Distance between holes: L 2.5cm
 Pulley diameter: Dp 1.905cm

Individual Moment Visualization Challenge – Pulley A

Draw moment arms on the figure below and calculate the appropriate mass m2 to keep the plate horizontal. The figure is drawn to-scale so the distance between holes on this paper can be correlated to L given above. Assume that friction can be neglected.

Individual Moment Visualization Challenge – Pulley B

Draw moment arms on the figure below and calculate the appropriate mass m2 to keep the plate horizontal. The figure is drawn to-scale so the distance between holes on this paper can be correlated to L given above.. Assume that friction can be neglected.
