Hail Storms are deadly in many and could cause major damage to people, property, and nature. When hail grows to be at least 0.75 inches, there is a greater chance of causing serious destruction to the area. If a hailstone was at the right angle towards an object it could fall at around 120 mph.
How do Hail Stones form?
Hail starts off when rising air and thunderstorms meet up with cold water drops. Once they combine, it create layers of clear ice until it creates a 3 dimensional shape. The cycle will keep going until the hailstone gets to heavy for the clouds and eventually fall the the Earth. The largest hailstone weighed around 2 lbs. The largest hailstone that was ever recorded in the nation was nearly 2 lbs., had an 18 1/2 circumference, and was 8 in. in diameter.
